Representation of Women in Music Videos

Evaluation

In this essay I will be speaking about how girls are presented and viewed in music videos.

Through out music videos men view and look at girls as if they were toys, or objects that only served their purpose. They can use them when they want and leave them where they want. They are always seen as sexy, slim, basically the definition of an ideal perfect girl.

They are always seen in hardly any cloths. As time goes on the girls on the music videos get worse and worse. There is a recent video by Rhianna called ‘pour it up.’ It was banned after 10 minutes and the papers described it as a ‘massive twerk fest.’  There was also a video recently banned called ‘blurred lines’ by Robin Thicke.’

Is it right for children under the age of 16 to be watching these videos? These videos could be classed as pornographic videos.  People argue that parents shouldn’t be allowing their children to watch these music videos.

You could also argue that for girls to be doing those videos it shows that they have freedom, spirit to be free to do what they want in their life.

What you have here is very good and you have responded well to the question. You have used some examples and some terminology.

T: What you must do now is develop your points and fully explain them using multiple specific examples. Pick out all of the technical aspects (Mise-en-scene, editing, lyrics etc)

evaluating our powerpoint

Evaluation

I thought our power point was average. The language used in the script was basic, and vague. The power point had pictures but the whole way through was only pictures of pink. So i think we could have added pictures of other things. Although we haven’t preformed our powerpoint yet i think if we were to the organization would have been good because we have a script to read off which is always better that letting the audience just read off your slides and the powerpoint only had pictures, this is good because your audience wont get bored as easy than if you just had words on your powerpoint. I thought when answering the questions the answers are quite boring for the audience and there isn’t much interaction with the audience.

Overall i think the powerpoint was ok, we answered the questions even though they could have been answered in more detail. The organization was good but there could had been more interaction with the audience.

pop stars

Pop stars are made to look like they live a really good life. Like a man. But what makes a man? in the song  candy shop by 50 cent he drives into a mansion in a really nice expensive looking car, and as he steps out of the car he’s wearing what looks like customized trainers saying ‘g. Unit’ . He walks into the mansion with bling on and a cap. Loads of girls around him are half dressed and one says “welcome to the candy shop”. At one point in the video he’s topless and kissing a girl. This is what the media want you to think a real man is, but some could say that’s not true a real man gets up in the morning goes to work and makes a living for his family. In the dictionary if you look up the word man it comes up with the definition an adult male human being, so you could potentially argue that a normal working man and a pop star are both real men.  But in the urban dictionary it comes up with the meaning someone who is obsessed with women making them sandwiches! There is a stereotype with women making sandwiches for men, but if you look between the lines this really means male dominance. If a male has power over a woman does this make them a real man? Because if you look at Margaret Thatcher you could argue that she was more powerful than any man in the country when she was prime minister. Does that mean when she was prime minister there were no real men in the country? my opinion on a man is a human being that gets up in the morning works hard to feed his family and does good things in life.
